Whats New

Well I finally was notified that I was going to go to the Academy and then the state started laying people off . It looks like I won't be going. They will probably cancel the class in July. Bummer. I have started riding my bike from work. I take the commuter bus in and then ride the 25 miles home. I have found a great trail and it makes riding a lot easier cause I don't have to deal with traffic or lights and stuff. I am on the road a bit but about 10% of the ride but that's ok.

Steve and I went to Madison's dance recital for the High School dance group she is in. She did really well. She was in 4 or 5 dances. None of the pictures I took turned out well enough to post so you guys will just have to believe me that it was great.

The weather has been beautiful lately. I really appreciate it now that I am riding home. Not much else going on so everybody have a great day.

Hello Everyone!

Well things here are pretty much the same. I am still waiting for an assignment to the Correctional Academy. Will they ever get this budget thing straightened out. Come on you either have the money or you don't...oh I'm sorry that is the working man's philosophy and not the bureaucrats. My bad.

Will hopefully have some great pictures from Easter when I blog next. Looking forward to flying the kites that Mom got from Costco. I have ordered a windy day so no problem there.

Just got off the phone with Sharon Kelly is in labor and they are at the hospital anxiously waiting for her newest Grand Baby.

I am trying to get my yard in shape. It is amazing how cleaning up after a winter can take so much time. But of course any small chore can turn into a big chore. One that I have run into is capping some sprinkler lines. I cannot find the line that feeds them. I have dug up quite a bit of this part of my lawn and just cannot locate it. One of the problems is that the sprinklers aren't working so I can't turn them on to see which way the water is coming from (I broke a line so I would be able to tell) and the idiot that installed some of them set the sprinkler heads in cement. What a bozo. I have dug under the sprinkler head embedded in cement and I cannot even find the line that feeds them so I think he may have laid the line and then poured the cement over the line. You are probably thinking why don't you just turn that zone off. Well that would work if only this part of the lawn is on that zone...but that is not the case. Another part of the lawn is in this zone also. I am going to give it one more try this weekend and I will keep you posted. I am sure you all will be waiting anxiously.

One of my other projects is geneaology. I am most interested in piecing together stories about our ancestors and not just what their names are. I am a member of Ancestry.com and it has been a wealth of information.

A few weeks ago I spent the day in the Colusa County Records office in Colusa verifying information that I got from Ancestry.com. While there I found the death certificate for Mom's older sister and where her grave is. Sounds morbid I know but it did clarify some details of what happened. I was also able to find out what Grandma Lynk's little brother Lawrence passed from also (kidney failure). Aunt Sis (Grandpa Lynk's baby sister) gave me a book, to review, that had the "Bond" pedigree in it and that was very helpful. While we were going through the book I taped what she was saying and had some pretty cool stories. I will eventually transcribe them and share with you guys. I have preliminarily traced some of our lineage back to the 1600's. I have also found some wills and have requested from the Military Archives the records of a relative that served in the Civil War.

Briefly though we come mainly from England and immigrated through Pennsylvania. Several branches of our family moved to Ohio and Michigan where eventually they ended up in California. The Bond Family has been in the Colusa area for approximately 150 years. Aunt Sis told me where her childhood home was and I am going to go take pictures next time I am in Colusa. She told me that her Father and Brother's built the entire home and none of them were contractors by trade. Would any of us attempt to do that today? (Minus Robert of course).

I have rambled on enough stay safe and well.

Hello Everyone,

Hope things are well with you all.

I spoke to Sharon last week and she told me that Jeff (Missy's Husband) accepted a post as the Pastor at a Baptist Church about 30 minutes from their home. I can't remember the name for the life of me. But congratulations to him and family. Also Kelly (Brandon's Wife) is due in a month or so and they are having a girl. They are calling her Montgomery (I am not sure that is the way they are going to spell it). I think it is a very cute name.

I am still doing the couch to 5K and am doing ok on it. With this weather it is hard to get out and jog in the rain. Roxy doesn't even want to go out in it. She sticks her nose out the door and looks up at me like I am crazy. It is getting easier though.

Well the state has passed a budget but the Governor is still planning on cutting the state workforce by 10%. The management here keeps saying that they are confident that no one in our department is going to be laid off but you just never know.

I am still working toward corrections but if they do not have the May academy I will have to start all over again. What a pain. I will seriously have to consider if that is what I want to do since it takes a year to get through the process and my year will be up in June. Well see though.

Take care and I will talk to everyone soon.

Love,

Aunt Patti

Happy New Year!

Now that it is 2009 what resolutions did you guys make? Me?? None-You can't improve on perfection ;)' . Lisa did tell me about a program that is called Couch to 5K in 9 weeks and I have started that. You start out walking more than you jog and eventually end up jogging 20 out of the 25 minute work out. I am on my first week and I can see how this program can encourage you to continue rather than trying to do to much too fast and dropping out. I take Roxy with me and when we get back we both collapse me on the couch her on her bed. What a pair.

Christmas Eve was spent at Mom & Dad's with Steve, Rick, Madison, Lisa, Sam, Crista, Jared, Cheryl and Robert. We had a blast. The "Kids" took responsibility for the meal and it was delicious. We had chicken, ham, pretzel salad (yuck) green beans, mashed potatoes and Madison's favorite dinner rolls. Dinner was followed by a gift exchange with the cost of the gift not exceeding $5.00. There were some pretty interesting gifts. Jared made out the best. He got a remote controlled truck...I know what you are thinking how can that be only $5.00. Mom's thrifty shopping that's how. Dad ended up with "autographed" photos of Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. Tooo funny.

I spent New Years Eve at my neighbors the Barrett's. We always have a good time. This year we played Wii for hours as well as ate and drank to our hearts desire. It is always good when you don't have to drive anywhere just walk across a lawn and your home.

Hope everyone had a safe New Year. Talk to you soon.

The Beginning

Hello,

This is my first attempt at "Blogging". HHHHMMMM what to say.

Sharon and Melissa came out from Louisiana last week, for a few days, and we had a great time. We (Mom, Sharon, Me and Melissa) went to Crista's Bridal Shower on Saturday September 27th. Cheryl and Lisa hosted and put on a great spread with dessert including a chocolate fountain that we dipped peanut butter balls, rice krispy squares, pound cake and strawberries into. It was yuuummmmy. As soon as I can I will down load some photos for you all to see.

I am no longer working in the Mortgage Industry. Not a surprise considering what is happening there. I have been working for the Great State of California (budget hopelessly late and a deficit of millions if not billions). I can guarantee that my salary does not significantly impact the states budget. I am in the process of applying for the Correctional Department. Just waiting for my background investigation to be completed and a psych evaluation (think I will pass) and a physical. I am hoping to be assigned in the Vacaville or Sacramento area. Don't want to move out of my comfy little house.

Roxy and Thumper are well. I walked out into the garage last night and Thumper was playing with a mouse. I was happy cause he is earning his kibble but YUCK! Thumper has not adjusted well to my roommates two cats. They are both female MoMo and Razzel. All Thumper wants to do is play and they just don't get it so a lot of hissing goes on. Roxy is as neurotic as ever but she is just such a cuddly 85 lb lap dog I just can't get enough of her.

I will try and update this twice a month (I am not as ambitious as Cheryl with her goal of posting every week. Best of luck with that)
